A classic,
atmospheric horror movie based on a popular Japanese folk story, the "Yotsuya"
legend. This one is directed by Masaki Mouri, who also did GHOST STORY
OF KAGAMI SWAMP in 1959; it stars Tomisaburo Wakayama, the great actor
who will always be remembered as Itto Ogami in the LONE WOLF AND CHILD
(Baby Cart) series.
A rogue samurai,
Iemon, kills a man and marries his daughter. However, he quickly grows
tired of the girl, wishing to marry his wealthy mistress instead. Iemon
tricks his wife into an adulterous affair at which time he kills both
her and her lover. But then the two return as ghosts on Iemon's wedding
night...
